People in Canada are ready to travel again. This summer is the season for domestic trips and later 2021 and 2022 for international trips, but for Canadian travelers it is all about when they are fully vaccinated.

Canadian travelers are looking closely at how safe it is to travel. 4/5 say health and safety guidelines are more important now when they are booking travel. In fact, 2/3 are willing to pay more for trips with certain health and safety protocols.

Travelers are going to spend money. Large majorities say money they saved from not traveling will boost their travel budget, they will spend more than they have spent in the past 5 years, and they expect their travel budgets to increase. But the first vacations may look a little different, as almost 3/4 say they will more likely to go to places where there are not a lot of people

There are still mental issues about not traveling. Almost 3/4 Canadian travelers have negative feelings like being sad and/or depressed, stressed, anxious or jittery.

Fast facts:

74% will likely spend more on travel in 2022 than they have in the past 5 years

77% say the money they saved from not traveling during COVID will really boost their travel budget this year and next

38% will take a domestic trip and 46% will take an international trip once they are fully vaccinated

86% say not traveling makes them feel that they are missing out on things -- up from 71% last year
